Books read in March 2024

I think I am acclimating to the faster pace life is going. At least, things seem to be a bit easier, except when I procrastinate.

Defiance of the Fall 12 by TheFirstDefier/J.F. Brink, twelfth in the DotF series. Five stars, finished March 4, 2024.
Leisurely but also workaholic.
Zac is expectedly set on bulldozing forward on his path, and dragging friends along for the ride. I really like Catheya, even as I really didn’t like Thea. That will be an interesting meeting, although perhaps more peaceful than I worried. The little monks are kind of driving me crazy. They’re everywhere. A great book, and had me biting my nails at multiple points. Read with Kindle Unlimited.

A Scion’s Duty by Tom Elliott, sixth in the Grand Game series. Five stars, finished March 6, 2024.
Over too soon
This isn’t A short book, but it still ended too soon. I love how he adopts “pups” constantly. Some characters are both more and less than expected, and the guardians are different than what I thought. The whole spirit cheat for multiple attempts at lycanthropy had me laughing. A fun and thrilling read, and I’m looking forward to reading more. Read with Kindle Unlimited.

The Fire Rose by Mercedes Lackey, zero/prequel to the Elemental Masters series. Five stars, finished May 7, 2024.
A good reread
The Wiccan book club I’m in opted to read this book for February, and I enjoyed the reread. It’s amusing seeing parallels between the book philosophy and actual Wiccan philosophy. It would be cooler perhaps if we could command or ask for magic like in this book though. This was a cute Beauty and the Beast retelling. The things Du Mond, or as another group member dubbed “the Bad Guy”, got up to were honestly way too detailed. The extent of his depravity could have been mentioned without details. Checked out from my library.
The Fire Rose (Elemental Masters Book 1) https://a.co/d/0zA3cqJ

Saintess Summons Skeletons by Mornn, first in the series of the same name. Five stars, finished March 11, 2024.
Cute and fun
Sophia is amusing as a partial classer. Her split class gives her a lot of overpowered options and I love it. Pareth is sweet. I was surprised that Alitha went the way she did towards the end. The powerful not giving any information on the sneaky patron and last name had me agreeing with Sophia’s frustration. I can see this becoming a mood boosting series for me. The tidbits that are suddenly thrown out didn’t have a build up or context, and were mostly ignored, so that was my only issue with the story. Read with Kindle Unlimited.

Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman, first in the series of the same name. Three stars, finished March 16, 2024.
I wish I had read this before seeing the movie. They’re completely different stories, with extremely different personalities. The bare bones are alike, but that’s about it. This was a nice book. It was maudlin and a bit depressing for most of it, but it does end positively. I like how everyone is so completely imperfect. We see their thoughts, internal struggles, and all from an outside viewpoint. Read because of a book club, checked out from my library.

Unexpected Healer by Jonathan Brooks, first in the Earthen Contenders series. Five stars, finished March 19, 2024.
Amusing book with a shocking start
The beginning of the book could mentally scar a person. The mundane yet graphic explanation of Thaden’s first hours had me picturing coyote and roadrunner cartoons. This book is hilarious in a way, and I love that a healer can do damage or cheat the system like this. I can only imagine what will happen next, especially with that ending. Read with Kindle Unlimited.

World Seal by David North, seventh in the Guardian of Aster Fall series. Five stars, finished March 22, 2024.
Always exciting
The divisions/avatars make this even more fun to read. Sam is able to focus on many different projects, and each avatar multiplies what he is capable of. I still love the crafting aspect. Little sis doesn’t really make much of an appearance. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
World Seal (Guardian of Aster Fall Book 7) https://a.co/d/2fw6mpT

The Wolf’s Advance by Shane Purdy, second in the Wolf of the Blood Moon series. Five stars, finished March 27, 2024.
More interpersonal depth
This book showed a deeper aspect to Scarlet, specifically her emotions and interactions with people. I am interested in what the prophecy could be, and how Scarlet might make that into an unexpected result. Her family doubled in this book, at least the ones she knows about. I look forward to being a fly on the wall when she learns more revelations. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
The Wolf’s Advance: A Blood Magic Lycanthrope LitRPG (Wolf of the Blood Moon Book 2) https://a.co/d/iFsmCKH

Mandate of Heaven by Selkie Myth, eleventh in the Beneath the Dragoneye Moons series. Five stars, finished March 30, 2024.
Beautiful, but still a disjointed ending.
The main storyline is exciting, sometimes sad, and fun to read. The relationship between Elaine and Iona is sweet. Their Fox grows up a lot, as does Auri. Those parts were a bit sad. The end of the book again had events out of order and some read like a blooper reel. Just put them in the story chronologically already, because it can be confusing and annoying. The Kirin and the Phoenixes at the end are funny. I think that will be a hilarious meeting. I read this with Kindle Unlimited. This series has gone on and off of KU, so check before you buy or check out.
Beneath the Dragoneye Moons: Mandate of Heaven https://a.co/d/2xxp6Yb

I’m sad that I’m not reading more for fun, and it is affecting my mental health. However, I’m studying and learning more in my chosen path, and that is fun and fulfilling in its own way.

Books read in February 2024

The year seems to already speeding up, and I am mentally whiplashed lol.

The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound 5 by Noret Flood, fifth in the LoRG series. Two stars, finished February 3, 2024.
A drag.
Before this book, I enjoyed the series. Randidly was fun to follow, relatable in his people skills (worse than none), and the adventures were emotionally intense. I hated following randoms, even if they became tangentially connected due to knowing relatives. The whole farce after Naveah has her say was also a nope from me. The issues probably started when Lyra went off the rails in previous books. Currently, I see no reason to continue the story. Especially if we’re play acting and allowing puppets. Read with Kindle Unlimited.

Goddess Reborn by Rain Harlow, first in the Mirror World Progression Saga. Five stars, finished February 4, 2024.
Exciting
Definitely a trippy beginning, but very interesting (in the “interesting times” manner). Sammy is awesome. She’s amusing and her antics just drew me in. I love a powerful woman. The book was so much more and better than I expected. I loved the climactic end too. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
Goddess Reborn: An Isekai LitRPG Fantasy (The Mirror World Progression Saga Book 1) https://a.co/d/cSlfDz5

Abyssal Rift by KrazeKode, second in the Rise of the Devourer series. Five stars, finished February 6, 2024.
So much fun
I think the best thing I love about this series is how there really isn’t a hopelessness from the main character. It makes the adventure lighter, even with heavy topics. It’s funny how things keep working out, and even parts that seem to be trying to place limits on him only result in more OP growth. I’m glad murder bunny has a happy adventure now too. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
Rise of the Devourer 2: Abyssal Rift: (A LitRPG Adventure) https://a.co/d/iHv7otN

Magical and Activist Ancestors: Exploring Tangled Roots by Luke Hauser, nonfiction. Three stars, finished February 8, 2024.
Historically informative
This was honestly a very dry read for me, but Alexa reading it to me helped with that efficiently. I read this as a first book in a book club. If others had not pointed it out, I would have thought the book was finished when the first bibliography was after a chapter. There’s another chapter, and some more tidbits after a second bibliography. I liked the legacies sections. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
Magical and Activist Ancestors: Exploring Tangled Roots https://a.co/d/dveXZDF

Goddess Descension by Rain Harlow, second in the Mirror World Progression Saga. Four stars, finished February 10, 2024.
That almost ending though
The endings have me slack jawed. Growth happens, Sammy gets more attached to this new life, and some more curve balls are thrown. Rememberings, Fate, and more. Absolutely enjoyable. I did not expect the power the enemy has, nor the sheer history that entails. This story is becoming complex, and I’m still invested. Read with Kindle Unlimited.

Proven Strength by Daniel Schinhofen, eighth in the Aether’s Revival series. Five stars, finished February 13, 2024.
Nope didn’t expect that.
At this point I think I’d enjoy a prequel or mythology text from this world explaining the real history of Aether and those attached to him. I didn’t expect the revelation at the end (not the identities, those were obvious). I also didn’t expect the revelation from Darkness. My preconceptions have been dashed. Highly enjoyable, and I hope to enjoy more in this series. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
Proven Strength (Aether’s Revival Book 8) https://a.co/d/9Hw3tSi

Voidknight Ascension by James T. Callum and K.H. Sohmer, first in the Voidknight Ascension series. Five stars, finished February 16, 2024.
Entertaining
This was a cute and funny read. Komachi is my favorite, and the epitome of cuteness overload. There are quite a few plots that seem to be zeroing on Sam as a target. It is never good when deities find you amusing and want to play. The last part was absolutely frustrating. Like, this whole battle and then bam who are you? Not fair. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
Voidknight Ascension: A LitRPG Apocalypse https://a.co/d/ifuqI9E

System Interference by SunriseCV, fifth in the System Universe series. Five stars, finished February 18, 2024.
Silvi is the best murderbunny chef.
Silvi may not have many cameos until near the end, but her innocent and brutal actions are hilarious and cute. Also, and spoiler for this sentence even if not specific, “CAN I EAT AN ELF?!” 😂 The System shenanigans, and the individual we meet are foreboding. Derek may get dragged into drama, even if the crazy bloodlust guy won’t cause that all on his own. Exciting read with some surprises thrown in. I loved it. I need more. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
System Interference: A LitRPG Adventure (System Universe Book 5) https://a.co/d/5oSWUCi

Voidknight Ascension 2 by James T. Callum and K.H. Sohmer, second in the VA series. Five stars, finished February 24, 2024.
Wholesome
The characters in this are just so sweet, minus Darren who is barely a side character, and the overall adventure is very wholesome. I am even more curious about soul aeders. There’s still violence, but that’s to be expected in a series about the Incarnate of War. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
This book seems to be unavailable for now. I will try to update this with a link at a later time. In the meantime, depending on if or when it comes back, you should be able to find it by clicking on the link to the first book and then scrolling down to view other books in this series.

The Arcane Academy by Shane Purdy, first in the Undying Magician series. Five stars, finished February 25, 2024.
Entertaining
I can see some potential issues Nathan may have if he’s completely frozen, but I think the doctor let slip how Nathan can overcome that limitation. It’s hilarious how those who try to remain on the outskirts get dragged into the limelight. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
The Arcane Academy: A Dystopian High Fantasy Series (The Undying Magician Book 1) https://a.co/d/0prLKh4

Kingdom of the Fallen by Shane Purdy, second in the Undying Magician series. Five stars, finished February 26, 2024.
I love this Author
It’s understandable that Nathan feels a disconnection from his friends, family, and new acquaintances. He’s definitely traumatized, and lives knowing he can’t die. That is a profound phrase. He doesn’t think “I won’t die.” It’s always can’t, which implies a desire. At least that’s how I found the story. I halfway like the one s class he meets. This has a large training arc. I am disappointed in his friends not paying attention to what Nathan says. Also, this story mentions mint ice cream enough that know want some. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
Kingdom of the Fallen: A Dystopian High Fantasy Series (The Undying Magician Book 2) https://a.co/d/0b8yYqL

The Scarlet Wolf by Shane Purdy, first in the Wolf of the Blood Moon series. Five stars, finished February 28, 2024.
Hilarious and fun
Scarlet is perfect. She has some weird hang ups about clothes, specifically hating anything revealing, but it’s an amusing quirk. Tar is fun, and I like how they’re becoming closer. I really want Scarlet to meet her bio parents, just to see if she’ll have a reaction. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
The Scarlet Wolf: A Blood Magic Lycanthrope LitRPG (Wolf of the Blood Moon Book 1) https://a.co/d/1BZqlcq

The Healer’s Way by Oleg Sapphire and Alexey Kuvtunov, first in the Healer’s Way series. Five stars, finished February 29, 2024.
Funny and not the direction I expected
I can’t imagine my brother offing me, and the lack of potential revenge was enough to make me pout. Maybe we’ll get more tidbits that fix that. I truly loved this book. Even with dark topics it kept me smiling and laughing. I do worry about the constant references to healers being uber rich but that’s a fact of life. I like that he doesn’t turn people away just because they lack money though. He is extremely passive aggressive in his malady spree, but it is definitely a karmatic joke. Read with Kindle Unlimited, but the next books in the series are not on KU.
The Healer’s Way (Book 1): A Portal Progression Fantasy Series (The Healer’s Way) https://a.co/d/4A033hf

I am still having the glitchy GoodReads issues, but I’m starting to think it might be related to Amazon’s new “my books” page. Either way, I hope that gets fixed.
Happy reading!

Books read in December 2023

I know, this is a miracle. I finally caught up! Lol

The Jade Scripture by David North, first in the River of Fate series. Five stars, finished December 4, 2023.
The blurb didn’t appeal to me, but I picked this up because I love the author’s other work. The beginning was both bizarre and captivating. The way Verse is connected to his previous lives was astonishing and, to me, original. I’m not a fan of the ghost, but he did help some. Teris just made me sad. The ending felt like both an ending and a beginning, because a balance formed. I’m curious on what will happen next. Read with Kindle Unlimited. Review did not sync from Amazon.

The Flame of the North by Alexey Osadchuk, fourth in the Last Life series. Five stars, finished December 9, 2023.
Never goes where I expect.
I really love that this series keeps surprising me. I think I have an idea of how the story will progress and then I’m surprised. I do wonder why Max hasn’t considered that if he could have been born in this world, and that he sees parallels, why would a specific other person not be a possible reincarnation. I love how sneakily he’s building up his power both magically and socially. Who will be the next person to learn that he isn’t to be trifled with? Another review that did not sync from Amazon.

He Who Fights with Monsters 10 by Shirtaloon, tenth in the HWFWM series. Five stars, finished December 12, 2023.
Growing pains.
Those who have power hate to be unimportant. Rick’s jokes about women are both face palm and laugh. It is so easy to bring my thinking alongside Jason’s. He does better growing up than I do though. Boris surprised me. Read with Kindle Unlimited. Amazon failed to sync.

Astrology: Understanding the Birth Chart by Kevin Burk. Nonfiction. “Finished” December 2023, but I will be rereading and referencing this.
I read this as a textbook for an Astrology class. The information in this book was easier to understand, and helped break down some concepts into easier chunks of information. I do recommend this, as well as Theresa Reed’s Astrology for Real Life. I will continue to read this multiple times and use it as a reference for my current studies.
Astrology: Understanding the Birth Chart https://a.co/d/3E7Oo14

Accelerated Wicca by Belladonna Laveau, first in the ABC’s of Witchcraft Book, nonfiction. “Finished” December 2023, but I’ll be rereading a referencing. Five stars.

The Path of Ascension 5 by C. Mantis, fifth in the PoA series. Five stars, finished December 19, 2023.
Undercover.
I cannot even comprehend trying to act like someone I’m not. I understand why Matt and Liz needed to, but it was still mind boggling to read. There are time skips, but they flow with the story. The competition was funny. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
The Path of Ascension 5: A LitRPG Adventure https://a.co/d/7N8Gxzq

Azarinth Healer: Book 3 by Rhaegar, third in the AH series. Five stars, finished December 24, 2023.
Fun, funny, and harsh.
I hated learning of a loss. I love how others inspire Ilea to grow. I admire the fact that she doesn’t want to go on rampages. There is at least one part where Ilea treats leveling like a drug, reminding me of the leveling high from another series. I will be disappointed if this series goes in that direction. I love that Ilea accepts all beings, regardless of their origins. I need more lol. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
Azarinth Healer Book Three: A LitRPG Adventure https://a.co/d/gssNv10

The Heavenly Serpent by Alvin Atwater, fifth in the Rise of the Cheat Potion Maker series. Five stars, finished December 25, 2023.
But the other rewards!
Ending the book while opening chests is just mean, but hilarious. I like how Nate is becoming more comfortable with the inevitable level of exposure based on his power. The mom and pop issue is sad, and I wonder if he will butt his head in. With the defeat of some enemies comes new ones. Hopefully he and Milia can keep any sycophants at bay. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
The Heavenly Serpent: Rise of the Cheat Potion Maker 5 https://a.co/d/525u2sx

The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound by Noret Flood/ puddles4263, first in the LoRG series. I like this abbreviation. Five stars, finished December 29, 2023.
I needed a great book.
I’ve read one middling books and series recently, and many of the great series I follow don’t have more books. I picked this one up because of the author. I love the desperation characters can have to be more, especially if they need solitude and enjoy crafting. The awkward fumbling when around people is relatable for me. The fact that even with this they can rise up into overpowered characters is freeing. I’m amused and worried at the type of people who are being attracted to Randidly, specifically the ones he is worried about. The ex is an idiot though. I’m absolutely excited to be able to binge this series for a while, and I can see it becoming a series I add publication dates to my calendar. Read with Kindle Unlimited.
The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound: A LitRPG Adventure https://a.co/d/0laBEPy

I succeeded in getting all these reviews on here. Hopefully, this will increase these books, series, and authors exposure so they can have more readers. Why do I want them to have more readers? Because it keeps the authors, and publishers when that partnership exists, motivated to keep publishing. I did not meet my reading goal, but I still read 159 according to GoodReads. Happy Reading!

Books read between Nov. 28 and Dec. 4

I am spending a LOT of time crocheting lol. I love the walkthrough tutorials on YouTube, and being able to find patterns on Ravelry and Pinterest. I do seem to have a habit of starting a project, putting it down to do something necessary, and then picking up a new project when I come back to crocheting. Oops.

The World Nexus by Tom Elliott, third in the Grand Game series. Five stars, finished Nov. 28.
Evocative
More unexpected twists and turns, an alienation between Michael and those around him, and dogged perseverance (pun unintended). So much happens in this book, and the emotions Michael feels are understandable. He keeps being pushed and pulled, and I hope he can find a place. Read with Kindle Unlimited. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B7RZWQS5?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_ts_SK99NWXDXQCD4VV1BC70

Water Magic by Mari Silva, first in the Elemental Magic series. Four stars, finished Nov. 28. Pagan nonfiction.
Overview, correspondences, and some practices.
I’m actually quite happy with this book. It has a good mix of information from multiple pats, and the correspondence lists are easy to follow. This is not tradition specific, and I think it can be a good resource for beginners and a good book to use for reference for those more experienced on this path. Read with Kindle Unlimited. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09LS165SW?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_ts_FDS407NFFX40854A8JDZ

System Change by SunriseCV, first in the System Universe series. Five stars, finished Nov. 30.
Another great story to exceed expectations.
I don’t think the blurb accurately portrays how fascinating this book is. I’m glad and sad that Derek’s experiences seem to have enforced a distrusting and jerky attitude, and his experiences in this book seem to help him thaw a bit. I find it absolutely hilarious that Derek keeps dropping Silvi’s name and with multiple different reasons. I also love when an already overpowered individual becomes even more overpowered. The bunnicorn addition was cute and funny. I have high hopes for this series. Read with Kindle Unlimited. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B61RJ929?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_ts_SR45QP5FVQCQFTKKC0WX

Flame Kissed by Annie Anderson, first in the Phoenix Rising series. Three stars, finished Dec. 1.
Quick action read
There are a couple spicy scenes, and they’re alright. I liked the action and repeated backstories. Normally, backstory flashbacks annoy me, but these flow perfectly in sync with the story. Read with Kindle Unlimited. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016R1RV34?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_ts_S0N71BTTHFQBXFPRQK1G

Advent by Xander Boyce, first in the Red Mage series. Three stars, finished Dec. 4.
Intriguing world building
The multiple dimensions aspect seems to have the potential to be complicated and confusing. Still, it’s a new concept that I haven’t read about before. I’m not sure what to think about different individuals that are powerful. I love that each characters’ skill maps has a unique design. Overall, this was a very entertaining read. Read with Kindle Unlimited. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HMLK6JP?ref_=cm_sw_r_apann_ts_C4SC75JSXZRVMY74610Z

This puts me at 229 read out of my 300 books read this year goal. I’m happy to have found so many fun new books and series this year.
Happy reading!

Finishing my Tarot course

I’ve officially turned in all my assignments, and I’m still studying for my own preference. I’m excited to have completed this class, and hope I can go even further in the Indigo Door Path of Correllian Wicca. I am still waiting on confirmation, but I’ll update this when I get that.

I have known for a long time that I learn things better when I write them out a lot—copy work. In this program they had us trace a new card for almost every assignment. I have noticed so many more details in the Rider, Waite, Smith deck (RWS) as well as other decks. Seeing patterns in the cards is easier, and it feels like the cards can speak to me. I’m much more comfortable trusting my intuition, but I’m still working on being comfortable sharing readings publicly. Private readings just feel nicer. For my own readings, the information I read in the cards can actually be very detailed and include details that I wouldn’t necessarily tell. I’m getting better at that though, and I’ve been posting my own readings on my Instagram almost daily. Occasionally, I do forget to share one or I forget to read my cards because of distractions in my daily life.

I can see a way forward, when I’ve felt stuck for a while. I tend to focus on what I think others require from me, and I forget that my path is MY path, and my choice.

Taking this class, I previously viewed the RWS as bland or old-fashioned. To be fair, some of my previous decks have included decks related to fairies and a manga deck. I don’t have those anymore, but the class did still help me see more in my Witches Tarot by Ellen Dugan.

At this point, I’m both excited and nervous. I’ve taken what feels like a gigantic step forward. I anticipate quite a few different path options from this, and I’m looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

If you’re curious about this path and others offered, here’s a link explaining the Door Program options: http://correllian.weebly.com/door-program.html

My first ambassador partnership!

I’m extremely excited to be able to be a product ambassador with Writual Society. There will be an affiliate link at the bottom of this post, and I may receive commissions on any orders placed through it.

I originally found their planner pre-order in November 2020. I still have my first Tarot Journal from them too. I now use their digital version, but that only made me love them more. They have a variety of products related to Tarot and what I think of as witchy products.

So let’s talk about my first planner. I pre-ordered it in November 2020, and they also sent a printable for those of us who wanted to track our readings in December. They now have stickers and stamps for those who use the physical planners, and my digital version came with pictures I can add to applicable days. The first planner captivated me with its gorgeous cover—it looks like one of those geode resin art pieces. It started with a two year calendar in the front and then had some suggestions for how to use it. It includes a place to record your birth chart and provides a link where one can be looked up for free. Then it had a beautiful black background to record a year’s Tarot reading (one for the whole year and one for each month). It then goes into a standard month page, and I used it to record important dates such as birthdays. Each month has blocks or lined portions to mark manifestations, priorities, goals, and then a monthly reading page to include the energy of the whole month and cards for love, money, work, health, and spirit. They also list the new and full moons on both the regular block calendar as well as near the reading area. Anywhere that it encourages you to note your specific reading it also include a text box for reflecting on the month once it’s over. Each week includes an area that states the week, affirmation or intention for that week (you put your own), a single card reading option, and a reflection portion again.

Now, the days are specifically designed for Tarot journaling. Each day included the day of the week and what day it was in a month, 3-card areas (to write, put a sticker, or stamp your 3-card spreads). Each day also included a reflection area. At the end of all the months and days, there were twelve lined pages in case anyone wanted to write notes or more. The very last page has been one of the most useful things for me—a variety of different 3-card spread ideas. I haven’t used all of them but the ones I haven’t just have not felt like they’ve applied to me so far.

If I get another physical journal I’ll most likely get the semi-annual undated option, and I’d get the Tarot stamps to pair with it. For now I’m quite happy with my digital version. I can use it on my phone, laptop, tablet—basically anywhere I can sync the file. The directions for it were for apple products using their GoodNotes app, but I was able to get it to work with the Adobe PDF on my laptop or the free Google Play app Xodo on Android. Pretty much any annotation app should be able to open and edit each page.

This year’s calendar has more than last year’s. It includes the previous pages and takes them further. There are reference pages for breaking down astrology in enough detail to make your birth chart make a bit more sense. They also include a “cheat sheet” of Tarot meanings. Dates are noted for eclipses and retrogrades, etc. Each month has a card tracker to see what shows up more in your readings each month. The days are shown in a vertical list with Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday on the left under the week reading space. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are on the left. It honestly feels like it opens up more space to record the readings. Each day still has the boxed to write, stamp, put a sticker, or however you’d like to notate that day’s cards. They also, in the reference section, give the 3-card spread ideas, as well as some 2-card spread ideas.

I’m sure you can see that I really love this journal. Before this, I had not heard of Tarot journaling. It’s helped me strengthen my relationship and understanding of Tarot, and it’s encouraging me to analyze myself in ways I have not done before. This is a positive change for me.

Whether you’re interested in Tarot journals, Tarot stickers or stamps, cartomancy decks, candles, crystals—they have quite a lot to offer. Don’t take my word for it though; check it out for yourself. If you do get one of their products, then I’d love to know what you think of them.

I read mostly fiction, but I do also enjoy books with a Pagan and sometimes Wiccan viewpoint. I am an affiliate and may earn commissions from orders through these links. Here are some of my favorites:

Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham
Honestly, I wish I had found this book as a teen. It’s easier to understand than the giant one by Silver RavenWolf that I read at 15 or 16. It covers basics in a great way for beginners, and those needing a refresher. It isn’t tradition-specific, but it does focus more on individual practice instead of practicing with a group. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B002AS9S80/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_QKE3W816PQPTD87RJS8P

One Heart, Many Gods: The Absolute Beginner’s Guide to Devotional Polytheism by Lucy Valunos
Some practitioners, such as myself, enjoy the idea of daily devotional work with our chosen Deities. My review from when I first read it: When I was little, and Christian, devotions were a regular part of life. As a teen I found that Paganism suited me better. I always missed the devotions though. Finding this book opened up a piece of my spirituality that felt like it was missing. It has some great starting points and is even beneficial for reread later on. I absolutely appreciate the author for writing this. I’ve never felt closer to my Patron Deities or to my Pantheon. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01JZQWMZA/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_K79N4Z43AFKJ7Z50VRBY free at the time this was posted, double check price before buying though.

Embracing the Moon: A Witch’s Guide to Rituals, Spellcraft, and Shadow Work by Yasmine Galenorn
One of the books I base my personal path on. It does have a more gray magick viewpoint instead of focusing only on the “good” magick. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B016X4TCLY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_F0SBRPRVH2EWX33SK70R

Tarot Journeys by Yasmine Galenorn
A book with guided meditations following the path of the Major Arcana in Tarot. I do wish it had an audiobook option. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01GNFEO9S/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_1X8CXNJR8RT3H4RRN02F

The Discovery Tarot Path: A New Model for Self-Reading with the Rider-Waite-Smith Deck by (Reverend or Lady) Stephanie Leon Neal
A great in depth look into this specific Tarot Deck, and it’s great for both beginners and experienced readers. Basically, it covers a lot of what is taught in the Indigo Door Project that the Correllian Nativist Tradition offers. The keys it points out were completely new to me, and helped me connect more closely with Tarot. (This author is also a leader in the Correllian Nativist Tradition). https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0861LCWZB/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_BC6R0RFDXTFKCHETSN08

Circle of Isis: Ancient Egyptian Magic for Modern Witches by Ellen Cannon Reed
I love how this book explores creating personal relationships with ancient Deities. I will caution you that this is 100% Wiccan and not based on historical Egyptian faiths. This looks into how the author and her coven embraced and built spiritual relationships with Egyptian Deities. The back half is more recipes and crafts that can be done. It has things like a recipe for honey mead and making a sistrum, etc. I’m pretty sure it also includes some incense recipes, but I don’t utilize the back half much. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/1564145689/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_45B43N8T9XHDE99TSGKC

The following two books are specific to my Tradition, and have a mindset of pursuing Clergy status.

Witch School: First Degree: Lessons in the Correllian Tradition by (Reverend) Don Lewis-Highcorrell
The lessons in this are meant to be done over a year, and if partnered with a WitchSchool mentor, guide one through the First Degree Clergy requirements. I tend to use the WitchSchool website and e-book more than the physical book, but having all does help me if I want to reference anything or hold a book in my hand. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/0738713015/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_32DTAPJ1VC337CQQFCWA

Witch School Second Degree: Lessons in the Correllian Tradition by (Reverend) Don Lewis-Highcorrell
These lessons are also supposed to take at least a year, but it is more in depth than the First Degree. There are other requirements if you want to pursue Clergy status with this Tradition. In case it needs to be stated, this book comes after the First Degree book. There are more books in the Clergy path and requirements specific to this Tradition. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/0738713023/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_XA4PJPF7A5PFM1PSQ9AF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Writual Planner by https://writualplanner.com/ (Affiliate Link)
Obviously, this one is a bit different than the others because it’s a planner. If you’re wanting to record your daily Tarot readings this is a great option. They also have stamps and stickers to use if wanted. The most popular option are the dated year versions, but I also like the undated one for those of us who might skip a day.

There are more books that I haven’t read yet, and that might be more tradition-based. These are the ones I always go back to though. A couple resources I didn’t think to use for a while: local libraries often have physical and digital books on Paganism and Wicca (as well as other paths under the Pagan umbrella), and Kindle Unlimited has quite a few books on Paganism and Wicca. I’ve found some amazing audiobooks, e-books, and physical books from this—and there was more available than I expected. Do you have any favorites?

RWS (specific) Tarot Deck review

Editing to add that I have now signed up as an Amazon affiliate. I’m not sure if previous links will count, but I may earn commissions on any purchases you make through shared Amazon links. 5.15.2022

If you’ve followed any of my other social medias then you might know that I’ve been taking an intensive, or in depth, class on Tarot. This one is specific to my Tradition, which was a huge motivator for me. I held back from taking it though because it uses the Rider, Waite, Smith deck. I personally didn’t find that deck to be interesting enough artistically, and I will say that I was very wrong. Anyway, once I started the class I bought a standard RWS deck, only mini-sized. Over the course of more than a year I’ve connected with the artwork and symbolism in this deck. I also feel the class has deepened my appreciation for my other deck (The Witches Tarot by Ellen Dugan). I still wanted a deck that felt vibrant and bold, so to Amazon I went lol. I scrolled through so many pages of available decks, and looked on Google search as well. A feature I wanted was a deck that had a companion coloring book. Tracing the cards has helped me connect to each card. I feel I am more able to “hear” or intuit their messages. I didn’t like almost all the ones I found, because I’m very picky. Then I stumbled upon the RWS deck—only with a black border. The item listing (on Amazon) said that they had also added more color—deepening and making the colors more bright and vibrant. Black is my second favorite color so I jumped on it. It’s been a bit over two weeks and I am still enthralled with this deck. I posted this review on Amazon:

“I really love this deck. It took me a year to come to love the Rider, Waite, Smith deck but one of the things I disliked was they seemed dull. Adding a black background and brightening some colors definitely fixes this (even if I hadn’t already bonded with RWS). They are the same size as my other full size deck (witches tarot by Ellen Dugan), and I also showed them (attached pics) next to my mini RWS deck that I’ve been using for over a year now. This deck also has thicker cards than my other full-sized deck. Makes shuffling a little difficult at first but will make them more durable in my opinion. I love reading with these. This deck is quickly becoming a friend, if you understand that. The guide book seems pretty good. I tend to read this deck more from intuition though. It is a bit uncomfortable trying to fit the guide book and deck in the drawstring bag (which is also sturdy). The guide is NOT missing pages; they are separated first by Arcana, then by Suits. Guide is a smidge bigger than my mini deck, if that helps.”

I do recommend shopping around for a deck until you find one that is right for you. You can also look in their guidebooks to see if their standard meanings resonate with you. For anyone who worries about this: No, you do not have to be gifted your first deck. I have connected and successfully read with all the decks I’ve owned since I was a teenager, and none of them were gifts. If you are given one then that is awesome and a great gift. You shouldn’t worry about accessibility though. Exclusionary practices don’t help anyone.

Cancer AstroloTea Review

I was going to post my review after trying both teas I got but my ditzy self has misplaced one lol. I tried the Cancer AtroloTea blend, and she was right it’s sweet enough that I don’t need to add honey. It’s a subtle sweet but I liked it because it gave me a chance to appreciate all the flavors. Delicious, helped me sleep, and do recommend.
